Can you believe it?! We’re already sending out the last trips of the summer and, WOW, we’ve got some good ones!

The first trip left on Sunday and the last trip left this morning (Wednesday). Everybody will be back by Friday afternoon to share their tales from the trails but we won’t leave you hanging that long! Keep reading to discover which adventures our Birchwood boys have set out for this week.

Canadian Fishing Trip – 5 DAY

This grand adventure is led by Birchwood counselors, Gatsby aka Dylan (back left) and Nacho aka Jack (back right).

This trip is very special because it’s one that we’ve only sent once before, way back in 2019, and once earlier this summer! The boys who went on this trip earlier in the summer had a once-in-a-lifetime adventure complete with fish for dinner every night and a viewing of the northern lights. These chaps are in search of their own grand adventure! They drove all the way down the Gunflint Trail, up the north shore of Lake Superior, through Canadian customs, and then deep into the Canadian wilderness where they put their canoes in the pristine Crownlands water. This land is the wild west of wilderness territory and the fishing is somewhat legendary!

North Shore Climbing – 5 DAY

This trip is led by counselors Flash aka Dan (back left) and Teddy aka Camilo (back right).

A Birchwood favorite, the North Shore Climbing Trip is unlike any other trip! This group is in for 5 days of climbing cliffs that stand directly over Lake Superior and base camping at a nearby campground. This trip is popular for the world-renowned rock climbing AND the big meals cooked in the dutch oven.

Senior Leadership Trip – 5 DAY

This trip is led by Senior Leadership counselor, Casio aka Jacob (left).

This small and swift group is embarking on a 5-day paddling trip into Saganaga Lake where they will close out their summer leadership training together on the shores of the largest and deepest lake in the BWCAW!

Lizz Lake Paddle – 4 DAY

These boys are guided by counselors Nemo aka Sebastian (back row, center) and Buggs aka Nicolás (right).

This group of young men set out for a 4-day paddling trip out of Lizz Lake with the goal of paddling to Cross River Bay/Round Lake by Friday! This trip boasts many small stunning lakes and lots of portages!

Superior Hiking Trail Backpacking – 4 DAY

This trip is led by co-counselors Ghost aka Ian (back row, left) and Divo aka Kiyan (back row, right).

This group is off for four days of backpacking the beautiful Superior Hiking Trail, beginning at Split Rock Light House. With their sights set on 25+ miles round-trip in four short days, we couldn’t be more proud of them!

Alpine Loop Paddle – 3 DAY

This trip is led by counselors Scooby aka Angel (left) and The Duke aka Wyatt (second from left).

In just three days, these adventurous campers will paddle from our docks around a classic loop of lakes back to Camp on Friday. They’ll get to see big lakes and little lakes strung together by gentle portages.
