This morning, our first campers of the summer put canoes in the Seagull River and paddled off on their first trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness! Spirits were high and we could feel a sense of excitement in the air (and a drizzle of rain)!

Each cabin group is going on a two-night/three-day trip (returning Friday afternoon) together to bond as a cabin group. Read more about each cabin trip and follow their group throughout the wilderness via their satellite pings!

TOULES CABIN

This trip is lead by Birchwood Wilderness Camp Counselors, Voldy aka Noah (left) and Ghost aka Ian (right).

The young Toules adventureres will be enjoying a scenic paddle into our very own Gulf and Romance lakes after hiking to the north end of Birchwood’s property. After enjoying a day of paddling, they will camp in our brand new canvas wall tent that sits permanently on Migizi Ridge, a twenty minute hike from camp. From there, they wil base camp!

AVANT CABIN

This trip is lead by Birchwood Counselor, Danté aka Harlan (left) and co-counselor, Buggs aka Nicolás (right).

These boys are going to paddle into Seagull Lake. shop around for the perfect campsite, and base camp until Friday! During the days, they will see the many sights on Seagull and maybe even bump into another cabin group out there.

RAVEN AND BEAR CABIN

FAR AND AWAY CABIN

This group is headed to Seagull Lake to do a little bit of fishing and a little bit of rock climbing at the Little Palisades!

SHANG CABIN

Team Shang is led by co-counselors Nacho aka Jack (right) and Teddy aka Camilo (left)!

The Shang boys are paddling on Lake Saganaga to focus on fishing with a detour to Sag Falls to see the sights.

SUMMIT CABIN

Our senior leaders are guided by veteran counselor Kumu aka Robert for their very first trip together!

These gents are also focused on fishing the beautfiul Lake Saganaga but they’ve set their sights on Red Rock Bay, which is a serene chain of bays branching off of Saganaga. With any luck, these Senior Campers will even hit on portage on this trip into Red Rock Lake.
