As the title says, we’ve offered lots of different trips this week! Our four and five-day trips are filled by our four-week campers while our new two-weekers embark on three-day-long adventures! The first trip left on Monday and the last trips left this morning (Wednesday). Everybody will return on Friday afternoon to share their tales from the trails but we won’t leave you hanging that long! Keep reading to discover which adventures our Birchwood boys have set out for this week.
Ester/Hanson Loop – 5 DAY
This trip is lead by Birchwood counselors, Coach aka Josh (back left) and Kumu aka Robert (back right) with Senior Leadership Camper, Emmet (front and center)!
This group paddled north from out docks early Monday morning. We’ve been watching their GPS beacon closely and keep remarking at how fast they move! This is a strong group of campers who are eager to see all the sites this loop has to offer before ending at our docks via Seagull Lake on Friday!

These gentlemen are in for a change of scenery! They’re hiking along the beaches and trails of Lake Superior on the Superior Hiking Trail with the goal of exploring the Devil’s Kettle! Devil’s Kettle Falls is a cascade of fresh water over volcanic rock that splits into 2 pools.

Saganaga Fishing – 3 DAY
These boys are guided by counselors Divo aka Kiyan (back row, left) and DaVinci aka Zach (back row, right).
Our fishermen of the camp! These boys are off for a three-day/two-night fishing expedition into the big and beautiful Saganaga Lake where aquatic monsters lie in wait for our campers to reel in. Although they brought a very full food pack, we think they’ll be having the catch-of-the-day for dinner once or twice.

Hike/Bike to Eagle Mountain – 3 DAY
This trip is lead by veteran campers and long-time counselors Casio aka Jacob (right) and Splinter aka Frank (back center).
These young men are in for an extra special trip that Birchwood has not sent out yet this summer – Hike Bike! This is a base camping trip with a hiking excursion to the highest point in Minnesota, Eagle Mountain, and a biking outing to bike the rugged terrain of the Sawtooth Mountains! Side note, Casio gathered a few ingredients straight from Penny’s garden before leaving camp…so it goes without saying that these boys will be eating some tasty meals!
