Archery is a fitness activity that benefits areas from muscle development to mental
health. The sport of archery requires precision, control, focus, physical ability and
determination. At Birchwood we use recurve bows and offer an introduction to this
national program. Campers earn awards in this activity.
The Riflery program at Birchwood Wilderness Camp uses the NRA’s air riflery model. The reason we use air rifles is twofold. The “lead” in small bore 22 caliber riflery program is not allowed in the watershed of the Superior National Forest. The second reason we use air rifles is the safety factor. The program still provides focus, physical ability and determination required for this sport. Campers can earn awards in this activity.
